On Wednesday I went to a friend’s house. Yes! A friend! I’ve got one! A local one!
She is wonderful, pretty, smart, great with kids, and a scrapper. She even likes Corn Nuts. I’m going to call her Kelly because it’s close to her name and I don’t know if she wants to be plastered all over my blog. Kelly has a 4 year old daughter who goes to school with E. Kelly is my co-worker, my right hand man in the classroom. When Kelly and I are together, there’s nothing those kids can dish out that we can’t take!
Anyway, we went to dinner (sushi!) a week or so ago and it was great. We sat and talked for almost 3 hours and I enjoyed every minute of it. Then, she invited me to her house to visit after school on Wednesday. E and I went there and he played with her daughter and Kelly and I just sat and talked and drank great tea and looked at her scrapbooks. I can’t tell you how good this felt.
We have crossed the line from acquaintance to real friendship. She’s coming over Sunday to play at my house. Fun!
My family went to Papa’s Pizza for dinner last night. Papa’s Pizza is a fantastic place. It’s got decent pizza, a friendly environment, and an enclosed, kick-ass play area for the kids. Soundproof. Fun. A free babysitter, gotta love it.
Anyway, we had dinner with a couple I met online. I belong to a forum for atheist parents, and one of the ladies on the forum lives in Eugene. We’ve been chatting online for a couple months and we finally decided to just get together and visit. They were a great couple and we enjoyed our evening very much. J played with their oldest son who is nine, and E was entertained by their 7 year old daughter. We made plans to go to Splash, an indoor water park, in a couple weeks.
It’s happening. Things are clicking into place. I like it.
Co this is good stuff!
I'm so glad you are reaching out and finding friends and like minded souls in your new home.
Just don't forget...(sappy Burl Ives musical seque here)...silver and gold, silver and gold.......
