Oh, Brother

Yesterday, right after school, I watched J and E playing together in the courtyard out front. I started thinking about their relationship- and I was struck by how cool it is.

Mostly, they are the best of friends. They play together beautifully. They can play with Lego, or Hotwheels, or Knights and Castles for hours- and what I mean by that is I could ignore them completely for Multiple Hours and they would be content, happy, and thoroughly entertained. It is such a beautiful thing.

Sometimes, though, they aren’t so great. They act like big, selfish, mean, nasty turds. They are meaner to each other then they would ever be to anyone else. They act as guinea pigs for one another- used to test what actions can be allowed to leave the house and face the general public.

Hmmm…
*I wonder what this car would sound like if it hit a piece of human flesh?
*What happens to a person if you try to lift the ladder they are currently climbing?
*If I don’t want to eat this, can I spill my milk in it and then blame him?
*Just how stretchy IS skin?

I think it's in the "The Ties that Bind: a Celebration of Sibling Rivalry" manual that is hard wired into their
chromosones at conception.

This is not a male thing...girls are just usually more subtle and sneaky.

Rule Number One - Thou shalt go forth and annoy your sibling at every available opportunity. Nothing says you care like constant attention in the form of torment.
