Things are going so-so. We aren't following the directions in the book exactly the way we're supposed to, but I think we took the meaning and we're making it work for us. Focusing on the positive, calling him out when he does the right thing, and noticing him when he's just hanging out. E seems to be more in control- less massive freak outs- but we've also been really busy and we're keeping him very occupied. I'm off to read chapter 2.

To answer a comment about J:
I'm trying to give him more attention as well. I've let him know I'm available to chat whenever he needs me, and I've given him a diary to write about his frustrations and feelings. I also told him that we're working to improve E's behavior and believe me, J knows how important that is! He is often the biggest recipient of E's attitude and violence.
