I have a best friend. A truly remarkable friend that I love with all my heart.

My friend makes me laugh; deep, big, painful belly laughs.

My friend makes me slow down and enjoy the little things in life.

My friend makes me cry with happiness when he goes out of his way to make me smile.

My friend is honest, and forces me to look deeper.

My friend listens. Not all the time and not exactly when I want; but I can wait a little while knowing that soon I will have the undivided attention of another.

My friend gives advice. Not goofy advice that I want to hear- but the hard stuff that will make me grow and change.

My friend entertains me. He comes up with things to do when I'm bored, he humors my flighty attention span.

My friend gets me ice cream or a movie or a snack or a new gallon of milk when I need it.

My friend points out my shortcomings. How else would I ever become a better person?

My friend tells me that I'm beautiful, and lightly runs his fingers down the crook of my arm.

Thanks to a summer TEC retreat and a lot of hard work, Ty and I are marking our 10th year together this summer.

Sometimes I just can't believe my good fortune.
