A Day in the Life

I can’t figure out how to work everything I want to do into a single day. Maybe it’ll help if I try to sort it all out here.

6:00 Wake up and shower.
6:12-6:40 Some free time while the family sleeps. I thought about exercising during this time but then I’d be doing something I don’t want to do during my only free time of the entire day. Nope. Can’t do it.

So I play on the computer. I’m going to try to blog during this time, as well as catch up on any emails.

6:40-4:00 Work
So, I work all day. I have no breaks. I am with my students the entire day, with only 45 minutes of planning stolen here and there. I do manage to get my planning done in school though. No way am I adding work to any more of my day. 9 hours of the day is plenty!

(For the record, my job is stressful. Fun, but difficult. I got called a Fucking Bitch twice yesterday, by 2 separate students! They love me, they really love me.)

4:00-8:00 Craziness
Here’s the part of the day that I need to get a handle on. I need to figure this out. Here’s what I’d like to accomplish in the afternoons:
30 minutes of exercise
quality time with J and E
chatting on the computer with my gals
checking into to Scrapgal
calling relatives to say hi
chatting on the phone with my sister and brother
scrapping time
cooking and then eating a decent meal
bathtime for the kiddos
a couple chores

*Side note:
I developed a fantastic way to get chores done around here. Each family member, even E, has a small job to do each night. Everybody gets Sunday off along with a second Free Day where that person doesn’t have to do anything. No one is overloaded but the house feels clean. If we are successful at this for a longer period of time, I’ll share my Chore Chart with you so you can get a true feel of it. Yay me!

So, taking a hint from the Chore Chart, I guess I could organize my afternoons in much the same way. Here’s my go at it:

4-4:30 Exercise (The kids still like each other at this point so they can be left to their own devices. Come 5:30 they will need to be entertained.)
4:30-5:30 Check out the computer or make phone calls
Chat with anyone available and check into Scrapgal.
5:30-6:30 Dinner
Both the cooking and the eating. Ty and I do all the cooking together. It’s nice.
6:30-7 Clean up, bath time
7:00 One on one time with E
Reading, snuggling, talking, playing Cootie
7:30-8:00 One on one time with J
Reading, snuggling, Playstation, board games
8:00 J in bed
Usually at this time, Ty and I spend about an hour doing our own thing. He studies or plays Playstation, I could scrapbook.
9:00-11ish Ty Time
No kids, glass of wine or a beer, talking, watching TV, no kids, hanging out

Hmmm…this could work. I’ll give it a shot today!
